Due to the limited supply of the new naira notes, hoodlums attacked motorists on various sections of the famed Lagos-Ikorodu road in Lagos State on Friday morning.
It was discovered that they attacked commuters and caused mayhem on the expressway in the Mile 12, Ketu, and Ojota districts.
Twitter users reported hearing gunshots.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the public relations officer for the Lagos State Police, confirmed the occurrence.
In response to a tweet, he responded, "That is real." There are our men. Units for reinforcement have been sent out. Keep yourself safe outside while we closely monitor and control the situation.
